  5. @Abhi: as for as Gs concern you have already studied it in prelim... but it need some extra color for mains.. you don't need to study much, as many conventional areas already disappeared from the mains.. what you need is more written practice which help you in time management.. but if you feel class needed may go for some selective subject like international relation, science and tech, current affairs.. but do join test batch.. and study your own for other things..

  6. @Abhi please ask your friends, better institute for test batch..

as there is no information from UPSC about cut off
we can do only guess work.. but it is safe to ensure minimum score in any one.. but cut off may differ each year

  10. i'll be completing my graduation(b.tech, mech engg) in may-june 2012. but since my prep are not good enough, i guess it won't be fruitful appearing for upsc in 2012. so i plan to appear for the 1st time in 2013. consequently I've around 1.5 years from now on. is that sufficient?
and what should be my strategy, keeping CSAT in mind or Mains?.....or both?
my subjects by the way are- history n pub ad

  11. @abienav first all the best for your preparation.. now you have planned to appear in 2013 so deciding the year is not a problem.. and you have 1.5 years to prepare it is more than enough to crack.. what you need is proper planning to crack in first attempt.. as for as we get information from UPSC there will be a change again in the exam pattern.. thats is they are going to take away the optional from the mains.. but whether it is in 2012 or 2013 is not sure... so you wait till notification come for 2012 then will decide about optional.. before that do start to prepare for CSAT.. along with CSAT second paper that is aptitude and all focus much on first paper particularly current affairs and events happening around you, it will help you in mains and interview too.. as most of the questions are problem solving in nature.. go through the previous years questions and plan accordingly.. all the best once again..
